Mindful Scouting,Lifelong Adventure
Empowering youth through character building, leadership, outdoor adventure, and mindfulness values. Open to all faiths and backgrounds.
Scouting with a Purpose
BLIA Scouts Australia (Buddha's Light International Association Scouts) offers standard scouting programmes (Joeys, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Rovers) enriched with Buddhist values, mindfulness, and the Three Acts of Goodness.
We are officially registered under Scouts Australia, meaning our youth earn the same prestigious badges and awards. What sets us apart is our focus on character, mindfulness meditation, respect for nature, community service, and a warm, inclusive multicultural environment.
We welcome children, youth, and adult volunteers of all faiths and backgrounds who share our desire to make the world a better, more harmonious place.
What Makes BLIA Scouts Different?
We bridge standard, highly practical outdoor wilderness survival skills with simple mindfulness breathing, kindness practices, and temple festival volunteering.
Mindfulness & Meditation
We begin and end sessions with short, age-appropriate mindfulness exercises, helping youth develop emotional resilience, focus, and inner peace.
Three Acts of Goodness
Our core ethos is: 'Do Good Deeds, Speak Good Words, Think Good Thoughts'. This simple yet profound framework guides how we interact with others and our environment.
Temple & Community Connection
Our scout groups are closely integrated with Fo Guang Shan temples. We participate in major temple festivals, community service projects, and cultural exchange programmes.
Vegetarianism & Sustainability
We provide high-quality vegetarian food during all camp outings, promoting compassion for all living things and highlighting environmental sustainability.
