No. BLIA Scouts is open to youth of all religious backgrounds, faiths, and cultures. While we incorporate universal Buddhist values such as mindfulness, compassion, and the Three Acts of Goodness, we respect all beliefs and encourage diversity.
Yes. All BLIA Scout groups in Australia are fully registered and affiliated with Scouts Australia and their respective state branches (Scouts Victoria, Scouts Queensland, Scouts WA). Our members follow the official Scouts Australia program and can earn the same badges and awards.
Fees include standard Scouts Australia state association registration fees (which cover insurance) and local group fees to cover hall hire, equipment, and badges. Contact your local division directory for exact pricing.
We strongly encourage parent participation! Parents can volunteer as adult Scout Leaders (training is provided), join our Group Committee, or help out during camps and special temple festivals.
Parents can volunteer as uniformed Adult Leaders, serve as screened Adult Helpers, join the Group Support/Parent Committee, assist with transport to camps, supervise home badgework, or help with fundraising and temple festival events.
Safety is our top priority. All adult leaders and parent helpers participating in regular activities or overnight camps must obtain a Working With Children Check (WWCC) in their state and undergo standard Scouts Australia child protection screening.
